About

Kosmos Productions is a full service digital film and video post‑production company. Established in 1996 in Denver, Colorado, Kosmos Productions was based in Paris for 7 years and has assisted clients on a wide range of projects, including documentaries, television programming, commercials, network and corporate promotional videos, in the United States and in Europe.

Who we are

David Baud is the owner and founder of Kosmos Productions. With over 18 years of experience in broadcast television and corporate film and video, David has directed and/or edited numerous national and international productions.

Growing up in France, David Baud's passion for film was first nurtured by making stop motion movies. Using many different animation techniques, he learned his craft frame by frame. After studying computer generated imagery and computer languages in Paris, David Baud first became an assistant to a television director and then a freelance cameraman. During these formative years he learned all aspects of production, working on a variety of projects from 16mm film to weekly broadcast video television shows. Since the advent of non‑linear editing systems in 1993, David has focused on applying his expertise to digital post‑production, editing and visual effects in particular.

Despite his years of experience, David remains passionate about film and video, and enjoys learning to use new tools and exploring cutting‑edge developments in film and video technology.

ABOUT

animation

[an-i-ma-tion] -noun

Stop‑motion, Traditional animation (or cell animation) use the same animation technique to make a physically manipulated object (or drawing) appear to move on its own.

The object is moved in small increments between individually photographed frames, creating the illusion of movement when the series of frames is played as a continuous sequence. The effect is an optical illusion of motion due to the phenomenon of persistence of vision

film

[film] -noun

A film is a series of still or moving images.

Films are made up of a series of individual images called frames. When these images are shown rapidly in succession, a viewer has the illusion that motion is occurring.

The viewer cannot see the flickering between frames due to an effect known as persistence of vision, whereby the eye retains a visual image for a fraction of a second after the source has been removed.

Viewers perceive motion due to a psychological effect called beta movement.
